- Size U.S. 6 (4 mm) circular knitting needle 29″ [74 cm] long or size needed to obtain gauge
- Size U.S. F/5 (3.75 mm) crochet hook for ties.

GAUGE:

BODY
Note: Vest is worked in one piece to armholes.
Cast on 81 (85-89-93) sts, taking care to not cast on tightly. Do not join. Working back and forth across needle in rows, proceed as follows: Work in garter st (knit every row), noting 1st row is WS for 5½ (6-6-6½)” [14 (15-15-16.5) cm], ending on a WS row.
Divide for Front and Back: Next row: K19 (20-21/22). Cast off 3 sts. K37 (39-41/43) (including st on needle after cast off). Cast off 3 sts. Knit to end of row.
Left Front: Cont on last 19 (20-21/22) sts.
Next row: (WS). Knit.
Next row: K2. K2tog. Knit to end of row. Rep last 2 rows once more. 17 (18-19-20) sts. Cont even until armhole measures 2″ [5 cm], ending on a RS row.
Shape neck: Next row: (WS). Cast off 6 (6-6-7) sts. Knit to end of row.
Next row: Knit to last 3 sts. K2tog. K1.
Next row: Knit. Rep last 2 rows 2 (3-3-3) times more. 8 (8-9-9) sts.
Cont even until armhole measures 4 (4-4½-4½)” [10 (10-11.5-11.5) cm], ending on a WS row. Cast off.
Back: Next row: (WS). Join yarn to 37 (39-41/43) sts. Knit.
Next row: K2. K2tog. Knit to last 4 sts. ssk. K2. Rep last 2 rows once more. 33 (35-37-39) sts.
Cont even until armhole measures same as Left Front, ending on a WS row. Cast off.
Right Front: Next row: (WS). Join yarn to 19 (20-21/22) sts. Knit.
Next row: Knit to last 4 sts. ssk. K2. Rep last 2 rows once more. 17 (18-19-20) sts. Cont even until armhole measures 2″ [5 cm], ending on a WS row.
Shape neck: Next row: (RS). Cast off 6 (6-6-7) sts. Knit to end of row.
Next row: Knit.
Next row: K1. ssk. Knit to end of row. Rep last 2 rows 2 (3-3-3) times more. 8 (8-9-9) sts.
Cont even until armhole measures same as Left Front, ending on a WS row. Cast off. Sew shoulder seams.
Ties: With crochet hook, join yarn with slip stitch at corner of neck edge and chain a length 11″ [28 cm] long. Fasten off. Rep on opposite neck edge.
